Aged-care statement check · A$29 one-off · General information, not legal, financial, or care advice

Your parent's aged-care statement, checked against the actual fee rules.

Upload the provider's statement. CareLedger reads every line against the published Support at Home and residential aged-care fee rules, marks what looks wrong (with the dollar amount and the rule it appears to break), and drafts the questions to put to the provider. It is for family members managing a parent's aged-care bills. One statement costs A$29, AUD GST incl., one-off. It is general information about published rules: never legal, financial, or care advice.

A$29 AUD, GST incl., one-off per statement. No subscription. Read-only: no account access, no money movement.

01 · How it works

Three steps, for a task nobody enjoys

A calm, dignified process. The report comes only to you. What happens next is your call.

1 · READ

Upload the statement

A PDF or photo of the provider's quarterly statement. You'll confirm you have authority to share it: for example as an appointed representative, an enduring power of attorney for financial matters, or with the older person's consent.

2 · CHECK

Get the findings

Every charge checked against the published fee rules. Plain English, dollar amounts, and rule citations you can verify yourself. See a sample report (illustrative).

3 · ASK

Get the query pack

A ready-to-send set of questions for the provider with the exact figures and rule references, plus the escalation path if they don't fix it. You send it when you're ready. We never contact anyone on your behalf.

02 · What it checks

The rules, line by line

Findings are general information about published fee rules, not legal, financial, or care advice. Every finding cites its primary source.

Support at Home statements

  • Care management charged above the 10% quarterly-budget rule
  • Legacy "package management" fees that shouldn't exist under Support at Home
  • Entry, exit, or hidden fees: banned under the program's consumer protections
  • Co-contribution rates above the assessed category limits

Support at Home covers around 390,000 participants as of June 2026 [verified 2026-06-30, via ABC reporting].

Residential: Higher Everyday Living Fee

  • HELF charges for services previously received free. Providers have paid back around $200,000 in refunds after Commission action [verified 2026-09-28, multiple outlets]
  • HELF used for accommodation-related or standard-care items
  • HELF price rises above annual indexation
  • Missing separate HELF agreement or cooling-off checklist

HELF rules are residential aged care only; fee-cap treatment varies by program [verified 2026-09-28].

03 · Your other options

You don't have to pay us

Honestly: a paid check is one route among several, and for many families the free ones are enough. Here's the full menu. What no free route gives you is the written, line-by-line audit with rule citations and a query pack, for any provider, at a fixed one-off price.

05 · Said plainly

What CareLedger is, and isn't

What it is

General information about published aged-care fee rules, applied to a statement you supply.

  • A check of charges against published rules, with citations
  • A set of questions to ask your provider, in your words
  • OPAN-first: free advocates before paid checking
  • Read-only: reads the statement, nothing else

What it is not

We say this plainly, because it matters.

  • Not legal, financial, or care advice, and never predicts outcomes
  • Never says "you are entitled to" or "the provider is breaking the law". It asks questions: interrogative, not conclusive
  • Never contacts your parent or your provider
  • Never promises recovered money or legal outcomes
  • No invented case studies: every sample figure on this page is labeled illustrative

06 · Questions

Questions, answered gently

Will this upset my parent?
The report comes only to you. We never contact the older person. How and whether to raise anything with your parent is your decision. An OPAN advocate (free, 1800 700 600) can help you think it through.
What if the statement is clean?
Then you get that in writing: no breaches found, with the checks listed. Peace of mind is the product too.
Do you work with OPAN?
No. OPAN is an independent, government-funded advocacy network. We're not affiliated, endorsed, or partnered. We point you to them because free expert help should come before a paid check, not because they recommend us.
Can you guarantee you'll find an error?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. Many statements read clean, and a clean bill of health in writing is a real outcome too.
What if I disagree with a finding?
Every finding carries its source. Check it yourself, or take the report to OPAN (free) and let an advocate sense-check it before you contact the provider.
Do you store the statement?
Uploaded statements are used only to produce your audit and are deleted after 30 days. We never sell or share data.
Is this legal or financial advice?
No. CareLedger provides general information about published fee rules. It is not legal, financial, or care advice, and it makes no claim about legal outcomes.
What happens if something looks like misuse of funds?
If anything in a statement is consistent with possible misuse of your parent's funds by a third party, CareLedger will not generate a provider letter. It will direct you to OPAN and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission first, in distress-safe language. Some things are not billing disputes.

Know what's in the statement. Calmly.
